About the Tour

Sail the Pacific Ocean from Callao in the footsteps of the great explorers of the past and head to the Palomino Islands, an unspoilt nature reserve inhabited by sea lions and birds of all types and colours. With this excursion you will have the opportunity to swim with the sea lions, something that very few visitors get to experience.

A vehicle will pick you up and transfer you to Callao, from where you will set sail to the Palomino Islands, located off the coast of the city of Lima. On the way you will pass the eight-kilometre long San Lorenzo Island, a major player in Lima’s history. It was a place of worship and during the colonial period, under the Spanish empire, it became a cemetery for sailors, pirates and corsairs. In fact, it has the dubious honour of having been raided by the legendary English privateer Francis Drake. It later became a meeting place for scientists such as Charles Darwin and is now under military control.

Next, you will arrive at the Palomino Islands, which are part of an ecosystem of their own where an extraordinary fauna of sea lions and local and migratory birds coexist. In the absence of predators it is possible to dive with sea lions and penguins at close range and in complete harmony. Finally we will start the return trip among islets populated by guano birds and the second largest colony of Humboldt penguins in Peru while an aperitif is served.
